The Ultimate Wealth & Achievement Summit in Denver, Colorado

Wealth & Achievement Takeaways from Tony Robbins, Robert Herjavec and Gary Vaynerchuk

I don’t always write, but when I do I want it to be inspiring and intentional.

We (my husband and I) just got back from the Ultimate Wealth & Achievement Summit in Denver, CO where several motivational speakers and transformational coaches spoke throughout the course of the day. Top three including Tony Robbins, Robert Herjavec and Gary Vaynerchuk.

I immediately got home, let my dog out, and started catching up on emails and ‘the little things’ that still needed to get done for Hungryoga on a typical Thursday.

And then I paused.

What the fuck am I doing?! Why am I focusing on this little stuff that doesn’t really matter that much when I could be harnessing the ENERGY that I’m in right now.

(More on Energy, in a minute)

After that instant of reflection I thought to myself, “What do I truly want to FOCUS on right now?”

Answer – I want to write out and share what my takeaways were from today. I want to see what really stood out to me without just regurgitating my notes, and speak from my heart what I was able to receive today.

Which leads me to think, “What does that MEAN to me? Why is this important to me right now?”

Answer – I am a Coach. I am a Coach that wants to be more of a Coach. Who desires to be a Leader. I am a person that has always wanted to help others, and show them that they can change their story if they don’t like what they see. I want to become more wealthy and achieve more by helping others become more wealthy and achieve more.

Okay, awesome. This feels really really good.

FEELING is really fucking important. You can’t change your existence, you can’t change your life, you can’t do things differently without changing the way you FEEL.

Since the beginning of this year I have been putting more personal research/time/energy/effort into learning more about wealth, abundance, mindset, law of attraction, getting what you want, making more money.

Abundance was my word for 2018, (thanks Jacki Carr!)

And I think it’s fascinating.

The whole concept of get clear on what you want, know why you want it, focus on it, believe in it, see it, FEEL IT, know that it is yours, vibe with it, attract it, and receive it (or even something better) is fucking AMAZING to me. I believe that this whole process is what attracts more wealth and achievement into your life.

The three keynote speakers – Tony Robbins, Robert Herjavec and Gary Vaynerchuk – were the ones advertised for a reason.

These three brought the best ENERGY, and of course, have the most wealth (as we Googled their net worths).

They DECIDED how their speeches were going to go WWAAAAYYYYY before they ever happened. Visualized what they’d look like, how they were going to interact, what stories they would tell, what they wanted everyone to learn from them, etc.

AND – they were themselves.

I’m sure every speaker there did some form of this to prep for their speeches in front of thousands of people. Maybe these three had more practice, more charisma, the advertising, the right timing of their speeches. My own personal opinion.

WHO CARES. This is what I took away from them:

Robert Herjavec went first (out of these three) and I totally loved his story.

Something that all three of these speakers had in common is that they came from tough upbringings. Robert, was an immigrant that came to America on a boat with his Dad and family in poverty. I could relate to how much he loved and cared for his Dad and the sacrifices he went through to take care of his family to make sure there was food on the table. Robert admitted that he did not come from an abundant mindset (my words, not his). That his father worked hard in a factory his entire life without ever complaining about long hours or tough work because he took care of what he had to take care of. He was able to buy a house, put food on the table, and take care of his family. Robert mentioned his Dad’s most memorable and worthy moments was selling the house for $16,000 (I think this was in the 70s?) and writing a check to a homeless shelter for that exact amount.

What an amazing human being

You’re telling me, that you worked sooooooo hard, to give it all away?!

Yep.

Do you want to know why he did that?

Because of the way it made him FEEL. That money, was just energy. That exchange of wealth to feed hundreds of less fortunate souls was worth an equal or even MORE VALUE than what Robert’s Dad felt that day. It was the absolute best FEELING of his whole entire LIFE.

Again, all my words, and what I took away.

So Robert, thank you, for that story about your Dad. It has re-inspired me to make my own wealth so I can help more people. It reminded me that money is just an exchange of energy. The more money you are able to create the more impact you can have on the world around you. Money is not evil. Wealth doesn’t have to be so HARD. Money is money is money is money. There’s plenty of it out there. It’s just a matter of having a BIGGER PURPROSE THAN YOURSELF to have it and go get it.

Vibration. Raised.

Gary Vaynerchuk, “you son of a bitch” you’re next.

Seriously, this guy cussed like a fucking sailor the entire time. Probably why I’m so openly able to write the exact same way. Not necessarily completely from this conference, but cussing isn’t so fucking bad. It comes back to the idea of ENERGY and how much of it the word has. Us judging people for using cuss words is due to our conditioning. I appreciate a nicely used cuss word every now and then. I think it’s relatable, energetic, and brings a connection to the right people.

Anywho.

Gary is all about Social Media. Also an immigrant, he helped his father build a multi-million dollar online wine seller by becoming one of the first big customers of Google AdWords. So he was buying words like “wine” for $0.30 per click and their company would be the first to pop up, and the conversion rate was insanely high!
Now he loves the Facebook, the Twitter, and the Instagram – as do I – but he’s become known as a genius in the social marketing world and has a lot to say about it in a very direct way.

“Go. To. Fucking. Work.”

Quit complaining. Quit living in the past. Quit missing “the good ole days when kids played outside” because that’s not how it IS anymore, and it’s NEVER going to be like that again.

I know. I loved jumping on the tramp with the sprinkler underneath too.

But if you own a business, or work in marketing, or anything where you need to PROMOTE yourself, you need to be investing and UNDERSTANDING Facebook Advertising and Instagram Influencer Marketing.

Why?

Because Google AdWords is now just “an okay way to market” and has become oversaturated, more expensive, and it’s a lot harder to get your ATTENTION!!!

Getting Your Attention – is Gary’s #1 Goal.

He said that we would be IDIOTS not to invest 6-15 hours of time learning how to do paid marketing for ourselves/businesses on Facebook/Instagram THE RIGHT WAY. Start investing in testing our markets and creating ‘social real estate’ before it changes in 24-36 months. Because it’s getting more and more populated, expensive, and saturated just like Google AdWords has.

This reminds me of something else that was an overarching theme at the Ultimate Wealth & Acheivement Conference…

We are living in the most abundant time in history. We have the best opportunity of ALL TIME to create wealth for ourselves.

You know what the speakers all did next?

Pulled out their cell phones. Cell phones, are changing the world. They have become the singular most important thing to us as individuals.

So Gary I thank you. Because I was one of the hundreds of people that stood up when you asked, “Who here has ran a Facebook Ad and not been successful at it?” And you are right, I was lacking education, know how, and give a fucks to actually make it successful. To actually invest enough money and time into it to match how much I believe in what I have to offer and to study the metrics that I’d get back from it. I tried to take action, but without knowledge and follow up I wasn’t successful.

Here’s to work blocking that into my schedule.

And Now…. THE MAN

THE LEGEND

THE REASON WHY EVERY SINGLE PERSON CAME TO THIS EVENT.

– TONY ROBBINS –

He’s more loud. More energetic. More charismatic than anyone else.

Hince why his net wealth is around $480 MILLION.

The only thing he did less than Gary V was cuss.

He was great though. Of course he was the last speaker of the day, because who could follow up Tony Robbins?

That’d be a sad day for them.

I’m sure like many people in the National Western Complex, I felt like Tony Robbins was speaking right to me. I think he even said, ‘I’d be a complete idiot if I was able to speak in front of 50 million people and not know how to speak/influence/relate to them’.

What I do know for sure that good ole’ Tony and I have in common is the power of MOVEMENT. If you want to gain energy, move your body. If you want to shift your state, move your body. If you want to change your mind, MOVE YOUR BODY!
Tony states that MOTION = EMOTION

So he had us up and down and clapping and screaming and high fiving and shaking and doing all the things to help keep our energy up. I felt it. I know what he’s talking about. It’s what I do for a living. I help people improve their psychology with food and body image by first finding movement that they enjoy, that feels good to them, and shift their biochemistry.

Then, we’ll chat mindset and psychology. Once your body has moved and released stuck energy you are more able to get to the brain. You can then examine why negative thoughts and limiting beliefs are coming up for you and be able to choose differently.

Thanks Tony, for reminding me of how important the work is that I’m doing as a yoga teacher, mind body eating coach, and lifestyle designer. Hungryoga is here to help you stay hungry for life. When things get tough, I’m here to help you see the deeper lesson. If you’re struggling with food, I’m here to help you see the gift behind it. If you hate your job, I’m here to remind you of what you’re passionate about and how you can take steps towards a new career that’s more fulfilling. If there are other areas of your life that aren’t going the way you hoped, I’m here to help you see what’s holding you back.

All in all, if you have a opportunity to go to an event like this but it means taking the day off, finding a babysitter, or locking your dog up longer than usual, do it. Just do it. Put yourself, your business, your dreams, your desires first. Nothing is going to change unless you start doing something different. Surround yourself with people that uplift you, inspire you, and encourage you to go after your heart’s desires. In the end we all have the same amount of time in our days, but it’s up to us to decide how to spend it. It’s up to us to recreate our lives into what we want. No one else is going to do it for you. You have to believe in you before anyone else is going to believe in you. So get after it! I’m excited to see/hear what comes next for you.

Smashing Self Sabotage – Coaching Call on Binge Eating & Alcohol

Smashing Self Sabotage – Coaching Call on Binge Eating & Alcohol

Smashing Self Sabotage - Coaching Call on Binge Eating & Alcohol

by Macy Graham | Smashing Self Sabotage

Welcome to the first Smashing Self Sabotage Coaching Call to be released on the blog!

Smashing Self-Sabotage, or “SSS” for short, is a coaching call series specifically designed to smash self sabotaging patterns, thoughts, and beliefs that hold us back and keep us from:

  • living the life we truly desire

  • believing in ourselves and what we have to offer

  • reaching our goals

  • feeling the way we want to feel, most of the time

  • loving ourselves unconditionally

  • experiencing deep and personal relationships with others

This call requires a commitment to transformation, coupled with a deep desire to heal from any form of self-sabotage that you may be experiencing. You will begin to get crystal clear on what it is that’s making you sabotage, how those actions make you feel, and then be able to shift to a better feeling story.
Here are The 4 Underlying Tenets of Smashing Self Sabotage
  1. What you resist, persists
  2. What you focus on, believe in, think of – will become true
  3. There is always a deeper meaning to your suffering
  4. No one else can help you, but you.
There are a few resources that I want to introduce you all to, that we will continue to reference throughout this call series.

#1 – Taming your Outer Child by Susan Anderson

Inner Child, Outer Child & Adult Self
You may have heard the term your “Inner Child” before – it’s pretty common terminology in the self-help world. I first heard of the terms “Inner Child” “Outer Child” and “Adult Self” in the book Taming your Outer Child by Susan Anderson. This book was a game changer for me, and truly helped me identify my inner child, outer child, and adult self. It got them working together instead of against each other. In the call I explain more in my own words.
Your Inner Child is that little girl within you, that still has some old wounds or traumas that hurt her. The Inner Child still needs a lot of nurturing and tending to. She needs a Momma Bear to hear here out, listen to her cry, and give her a big hug when she’s hurting. Self Sabotage is
Your Outer Child is the honerey teenage version of you – that loves to be a rebel and act out in ways that don’t make sense to really anyone but her. When you think
Adult Self is the ‘grown-up’ for everyone.

#2 The 6 Root Causes of Self Sabotage – taught to me by Kris Ward of abundantyogi.com – where I received my Lifestyle Design Coaching Certification

In the call I go over the 6 Root Causes of Self Sabotage, and relate it to myself and my own experiences. I also give you some tips on how to not succumb to these root causes and smash self sabotage before it goes too far.

Here they are in short:

  1. Stuffing or Ignoring a Negative Emotion
  2. Too Much Hustle and not Enough Self Care & Connection
  3. Trying too hard to measure up, then zooming too far out setting goals
  4. Blending work time with leisure time (aka living in the gray zone)
  5. Resisting like crazy because we’re believing our own made-up stories
  6. Trying to manage what isn’t ours to manage

#3 is filling out your Prep Form for the call and receiving one-on-one coaching with me. You are responsible to fill out a Hot Seat Prep Form before each call if you want 1:1 coaching during the call. This is not required, but this is really where the magic happens. We will go in order of who submitted their form first.

Here are some journal exercises that you can also do on your own.

THE INNER WORK:
  • Write all your self sabotaging patterns
  • Notice what these instances taught you about yourself and self sabotage
  • We are looking at these stories with the intention to release and reframe
  • Is the beliefs I picked up around this memory ultimately true?
  • Go through each of these stories and begin to write a story that feels better around each one

Radio Interview with All Business Media FM

I had a lot of fun doing this interview about Hungryoga with All Business Media FM.
They are an advertising company based out of New York that specializing in helping businesses create media to get their work out into the world. They loved what Hungryoga had to say, giving us a rating of 8.6 / 10.

Listen to the Interview below, or read the transcript to get to know me and Hungryoga just a little bit better!

Company Background: My online business hungryoga.com is a platform for Mindful Movement, Mind Body Eating & Lifestyle Design Coaching. I offer private coaching specifically for women struggling with binge eating, emotional eating, and negative body image. I also coach people who desire to become coaches or entrepreneurs how to make that transition and reverse engineer their lives into the exact lifestyle that they desire. I have online courses available for people interested in learning Yoga and Mindful Movement; including my Beginner’s Yoga Online Course, the Backyard Beauty Series, and the Chair Yoga Online Course. You can see all of these offering and also lots of free content over at www.hungryoga.com.

Tell us about your background of your business and yourself.
My name is Macy Graham, and I’m the sole Coach and Owner of Hungryoga.com. Hungryoga was founded in 2014, and has been growing ever since. I started Hungryoga after quitting my corporate management job with a deep desire to help women have a positive relationship with food and body. I myself struggled with binge eating and negative body image in college, which is what led me to become a coach in the first place. I’m a Certified Yoga Teacher, Mind Body Eating Coach from the Institute for Psychology of Eating in Boulder, CO, and a Lifestyle Design Coach certified through AbundantYogi.com. I currently live in Littleton, Colorado and in my spare time I love to go to yoga classes, go on hikes, invest in personal development, and cook homemade meals at home.

What inspired you to pursue your profession?

Coaching and Teaching Mind Body principles and practices to help women overcome their struggles with food and body, is my biggest passion in life. In yoga they call this your dharma, our highest calling. For me it’s a non-negotiable to help women transform their lives and actually have a positive relationship with food and body. I know how painful it is to be in the cycle of shame and guilt with food and hating your body. I’m so inspired to share that it is possible to live life a different way, and actually enjoy the skin that you’re in while not having to obsess about food.
Why do you think yoga is so benefical for people struggling with food?
The practice of yoga isn’t just great for you physically, but mentally and spiritually too. Yoga really allows a person to slow down and get present which is an important concept for anyone that binge eats or emotionally eats. It’s really important for people to have the tools to drop into a relaxation response, or the Parasympathetic Nervous System. It’s easy to live in a stressed state, or the Sympathetic Nervous System dominance. The practice of yoga teaches a person how to stay calm, present, and to just feel really good in the moment (and body) they’re currently in.
Where do you see yourself in the near future?
I see myself leading Yoga & Mind Body Eating Retreats here in Colorado. I’m also working on building my library of Online Courses and Digital Content so I can work with people from all over the world. Something that’s really important to me is creating freedom in my life and the lives of the people I work with. Financial freedom, work freedom, and location freedom are all important as I look into the future and start my family. I truly believe this work is healing the world and the feminine nature, and I’m grateful to be a part of this movement.
I’m super grateful for this experience and for every single one of you tuning into this powerful work. It is possible to create a life you love, and to no longer feel guilty about the person you are. No one else is like you, and that’s absoltuely amazing! That means that no one else has gone through your experiences. They can’t provide what you can uniquely offer. There’s no such thing as competition! It’s time to take the pressure off, learn and grow into the person you’ve always dreamed of, and let go of any limiting beliefs holding you back from that vision.

If you are struggling with food it’s trying to teach you a deeper lesson.

Take better care of yourself. Stop numbing out to the reality of you life. Reflect on what is really happening, and what is no longer serving you. Food issues show up when other areas of your life are not being fulfilled. For everyone it is different. You may hate where you live. It could be your not in the right job. Maybe you are in a bad relationship. Family issues. Spiritual confusion. Mental Illness. And so much more…

I hope you enjoyed listening in on the interview or reading through the transcript! I felt like All Business Media FM did a great job of capturing what Hungryoga is all about, and asked the right questions for the right people to find me online. If you resonated with this interview, and think we would make a good team to work together, reach out! All of my info is listed above. Head over to my Coaching Tab if you are ready to dive into private coaching with me. Whether you are struggling with food and body, or feel lost in becoming a coach and building your online brand, I’m here to help!

I’m on your side,

Mind Body Eating Changed My Life & Can Change Yours Too

Mind Body Eating Changed My Life & Can Change Yours Too

Mind Body Eating changed my life, and it could change yours too.
If you struggle with binge eating, emotional eating, or negative body image – you have to watch this video below!

> What is Mind Body Eating?

> How the principles of Mind Body Eating changed my life

> Who I think I can specifically help

> And my new online course all about Mind Body Eating!

I believe that the thoughts we entertain are just as important as the food we decide to eat. The eating experience affects your digestion, metabolism, and assimilation of food – not just the type of food! Mind Body Eating is a new approach to health coaching that encompases the entire being – mind, body and spirit. Nutritional facts are great, but as a Coach I’m even more interested in your story, what’s happened in your life, how did you get to where you are today, and what are some small actionable baby steps you can start making to live the life that you desire.

There is a deeper meaning behind your eating challenges. Mind Body Eating is a doorway into your higher consciousness and evolution. It will allow you to go “ah ha” or “oooo that makes sense” and “wow, I never thought of it that way!” I’m here not only to help you up-level your health and nutrition, but your thought processes, your physical environment, your friend group, your career, and overall contentment and happiness.

The online course is currently being built as I write this! So exciting! This will be a great step to take if my Private Coaching is off your radar. I recommend the Mind Body Eating online course to anyone who has struggled with binge eating, emotional eating, negative body image, and/or overexercising. I specifically believe I can relate to the young woman who desperately wants to feel like herself again. I personally love courses that provide audio that I can take with me on the road, or listen to whenever needed; so that’s how the online course is being designed.

I’m a Mind Body Eating Coach certified under the Institute for Psychology of Eating in Boulder, Colorado. I’m also a yoga teacher, lifestyle & career coach, and online wellness advocate.

Overexercise Can Make You Overeat

Overexercise Can Make You Overeat

These days I try to not overexercise. I only do exercise that feels good to me. It’s not about burning the most calories possible, to me. It’s not about killing myself in the gym, or doing anything that feels more like torture than pure joy of moving my body.

In fact, I had to learn this lesson over again this week ; )
I got on my bike for the first time this season! I literally had to hose spray the dust off of it from winter. I went with one of my long time clients who bikes regularly, and she just rocks it every time. I love going with her because it’s more about conversation and enjoying the weather and just feeling really good while moving!
Definitely my kind of work out : )
But if I’m going to be completely honest, I probably road a little too far. We went 20 miles, which to some is like nothing and to others is like a lot… and it felt really good while we were doing it, but the last probably 5 miles it started to not be as fun anymore.
But we both really wanted “that 20 mile marker”!
Or at least our egos did ; )
So we did it and it felt great to accomplish that and we went over the lunch hour so I just had a smoothie afterwards because it sounded super good…. and it was, so so good. My smoothie game has really been on point lately (let me know if you want any pointers/recipies!)
So I worked the rest of the day and had a few more clients – I even did a yoga session with some clients later that day…. I was justifying it, “I need yoga so I won’t be so tight tomorrow from the 20 mile bike ride.”
And then dinner came around and I randomly had some Elk hamburger de-thawed (which was quite delicious) and I found this “Sloppy Elk Burgers” recipe which is very similar to Sloppy Joes…
And by this point it was 7:30pm and I hadn’t eaten since my smoothie and I was pretty ravenous and so I ate the Sloppy Elk Burger with all the Sourdough bun and all the tater tots and all the snap peas.

I ate too quickly, in a stressed state, which I know caused me to shut down digestion and made the food sit in my stomach.

And all the sudden I had a flashback to when I was training for my first sprint triathlon, and I was over exercising, and it would almost ALWAYS lead to overeating and made me feel terrible about myself. Like I was a hamster just stuck in a wheel trying to lose weight, be healthy, feel good, but I was trying way way way too hard and doing way too many things including eating too much.
But this time I just took a nice hot shower, told honey that I needed to go to bed early because my stomach hurt, ate a couple digestive enzymes (they’ve really helped me) and brought some water with me. I just laid in bed for probably an hour in silence and intentionally relaxed, slowed down, got to a meditative state, and said nice things to myself…
Sure enough my stomach started to feel better and I was able to fall asleep. The next day was the next day! There was nothing to morn over and there’s no way I’d ever “skip breakfast” (totally something I would have done in the past) because I ate more the night before than I usually did. No, now I just have a lighter breakfast and check in with what I need to start my day feeling really good. I think I had a different smoothie recipe that morning.
I know this is a long story, but if you’ve made it this far you can probably relate.
Exercising a ton doesn’t mean you’re going to lose weight. If you feel like you are caught in this cycle right now where you are over-training, over-exercising, over-competitive, over-perfectionistic, over-doing-everything — and you’re over-eating. I strongly encourage you to back off, just as an experiment, to see what happens. Notice how it feels, and see if you feel better!
Laying in my bed doing absolutely nothing but breathing and saying nice things to myself was the best I felt all day. I wanted to cry because it felt so good to slow down, breathe, get back into my body, and reconnect. Try this or something like it next time you catch yourself in a frenzy of over-doing.
I love you for reading my story! I hope you found it helpful or at least relate-able.
I’m teaching a Live Mindful Movement video in my private facebook group around 3:30pm MTN! Most of you are already in the group, but if you’re not you can join us here. I’ve already had some suggestions to add my resistance bands and to do Yoga Sculpt (which is yoga with dumbbell weights) so it should be a great workout.
I’ll see you later today in Mindful Movement w/ Macy!

Mindful Movement w/ Macy

The new private facebook group that HY offers for free, quick, effective, fun, at-home “workouts”.

Hey loves!

I’m really enjoying Mindful Movement w/ Macy to connect with my students from allll over, and provide some freebie content for everyone that supports me and wants to be more involved in what Hungryoga is all about.

So what is Hungryoga all about?

Hungryoga is the union of mindful movement, eating psychology, and living life by design.

Mindful Movement is the first step. For way too long, I was using exercise as punishment. I had the mentality, “no pain, no gain” and the only thing I was gaining… was weight.

Did you know that overexercising, too much cardio, and high intensity working out – can actually cause you to gain weight?

Ya. Crazy.

But so true. When our body is in a constant state of Stress, we tend to hold onto weight to protect us.

That’s why it is my PASSION to provide people with Mindful Movement. To do things that actually feel good. Give you more energy. Leave you feeling better. More integrated. Connected. And Confident.

In Mindful Movement w/ Macy I share short, fun, and laid back Pilates, Yoga, & Strength Training videos. I will also hop on and just connect with you. This group is completely free, but I will talk about upcoming courses, workshops, and other offers online so members of the private group will know about my offers first.

My goal and intention with this group is to give a lot of value, help people love themselves again and realize that exercise can feel good again.

The latest video I posted is with a Resistance Band! A short and sweet 13 minute video : )

You can purchase the ones I use below. Love them!

I hope you will join me and everyone else in Mindful Movement w/ Macy

Lots of Love!

Appetizer – Mexican Tortilla Rollups

Appetizer – Mexican Tortilla Rollups

The appetizer that’s Meatless, Mexican && Mess-less to eat?!?! I give you, Mexican Tortilla Rollups!
Tortillas, greek cream cheese, vegetarian refried beans, diced green chile, shredded cheese, avocado, and salsa make this appetizer simple and easy to make.

Something fun that the office at Ascent Therapy Clinic has started to do is Potlucks! We have been loving this so much because we basically all meal prep for each other, and try to keep the theme of ‘healthy’ on deck. This particular potluck was called, “Everything but the Main Dish” and my first thought was rollups of some sort always make a great appetizer. I’m the girl who looks in her fridge and thinks, ‘okay what can I make from all this randomness’. I can get pretty creative, and sometimes it works and other times it’s… scary. These Mexican Tortilla Rollups turned out pretty good! Next time I will make a few changes {such as spread, roll, THEN CHILL, then cut} and also {I love me some avocado, but it does brown by Day 2 in the recipe}

Here are the ingredients for this awesome appetizer… Mexican Tortilla Rollups!

  • 8 Tortillas
  • 1 Block Greek Cream Cheese
  • 1 Can Vegetarian Refried Beans
  • 1 Cup Finely Shredded Cheese
  • 1 Can Green Chile
  • 1 Avocado – cubed
  • 1 Cup Salsa

Mexican Tortilla Rollups – The Perfect Summer Appetizer!

  • Mix Cream Cheese, Refried Beans & Green Chile’s together ( I love using my Kitchenaid, but can be done with a hand mixer too!)
  • Then add Shredded Cheese, Guacamole & Salsa (cube your avocado by cutting it in half and then each half make several cuts vertically and horizontally. Use a spoon to scoop it out! You can fold all these ingredients in with a spoon or spatula.)
  • Add your favorite spices! My choice was Garlic Powder, Cayenne Pepper & Sea Salt : )
  • Here’s where I would do it different… I thought chilling the mix for 30 minutes would be enough, but I wish I would have smeared the mix onto the tortillas, rolled the tortillas up (so they look like a sushi roll that hasn’t been cut yet hehe) and then chilled the entire thing for 30 minutes before cutting.
  • So instead of Spread, Roll & Cut… you would only have to take the rolls out of the fridge and then cut them up into bite size pieces!
  • Now, you’re ready for your Potluck : )

NOMMY DIP IS SO GOOD!!

Especially in the summertime, it’s so refreshing! I have heard this called ‘Texas Caviar’ or ‘Cowboy Caviar’ but all I do is go NOM NOM NOM when I’m eating this, so that’s why I called it Nommy Dip! I’ve made several variations of this dip, but I love this one because of all the fresh ingredients and it has stayed good in my fridge for a week now.. and there’s avocado in it!

I made a different variation of Nommy Dip a few weeks ago at a pot luck, and everyone raved about it! Including me… I’ve been making homemade breakfast burritos too, and the Nommy Dip is great to use as a salsa! Something that the girls K&K at Tone It Up taught me was that you can use bell peppers, cucumbers, zucchini – really any veggie that you can form into a chip for your dip! I’m a sucker for tortilla chips and any kind of salsa, but I love using veggies as chips too – for all dips!

So here’s the ingredients for the hipster Cowboy Caviar… Nommy Dip!
– 2 avocados
– 1/2 red onion
– 1 red bell pepper
– 2 limes
– 1 bunch cilantro
– 1 can corn
– 1 can black beans
– Favorite Dressing: I love Tessemae’s Italian
– Favorite Spices: I used garlic powder, salt, and cayenne
– Favorite Chips: Tortilla chips, blue corn chips, and black bean chips are all delicious with Nommy Dip!

Follow along with the video to make Nommy Dip & ENJOY!!

1. Cube Avocado, Red Pepper & Red Onion

2. Pick & Chop Cilantro – act like your picking flowers petals off a stem, and then chop ’em up!

3. Rinse & Drain Canned Corn & Black Beans

4. Squeeze 2 limes, marinate with Italian dressing & add your favorite spices!

5. Enjoy right away or store in fridge up to 7 days!

I hope you liked this Nommy Dip Recipe! Please leave a comment and let me know if you made it, or maybe came up with your own fancy variation of Nommy Dip aka Cowboy Caviar. For more recipes like this you can follow @hungryoga on Instagram and check out our “Story”.

– Do you believe that decreasing our consumption of meat can help conserve the planet, and improve our overall health?

Let me know!

Eating Psychology – What Everyone Should Know

Eating Psychology – What Everyone Should Know

Eating Psychology

Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to be here. If you don’t already know my name is Macy and I’m the sole coach and owner of Hungryoga. The health and wellness platform that advocates yoga, mindful movement, eating psychology, lifestyle design, and conscious business. ~ Today I’m here to share with you in the realm of Eating Psychology.

I chose Eating Psychology today because I realize it’s a newer term that’s been buzzing around the last couple years. I was blessed enough to be in one of the first coaches from the Institute for Psychology of Eating. I’m super excited to share some nuggets of wisdom with you. My goal is to inform you about what I think Everyone Ought to Know About Eating Psychology.

Eating Psychology – What You Should Know

WHY I think everyone needs to know this?

  • Some of you may relate to almost being too smart and know almost too much about nutrition. It can end up just making you feel less than. You’re not able to follow all the rules, and eat all the best foods all the time. You get stuck in perfectionism. You look to “experts” to try and “fix” whatever food system you are trying to follow.
  • Maybe you are getting hung up in the fact that you simply don’t have the willpower to stay on a diet. You should be able to do it but you just can’t. If only you could control what goes into your mouth then you would have the body you want and you’d be happy.
  • And I know for certain many of you have negative thoughts about yourself running in the back of your mind 24/7. Thoughts such as, ‘omg I can’t eat that it’s so bad for me (but then 5 seconds later you are eating it with regret)’. OR ‘I’m so lazy, I hate the gym, but I have to workout or else I’ll get even fatter’. OR ‘I want to get seconds but tell yourself you can’t so then you don’t. Then all you’re left with is an intense need to eat more so you binge on cookies or eat out of your pantry standing up.

WHAT I want you to know is that:

  • There are so many amazing tools and resources and experts out there to help inform us about health and nutrition and fitness. BUT the experts don’t know it all. They probably had a transformational experience of their own which made them very passionate about that certain way of being. Just because they had this success doesn’t mean that it’s going to work for you – but maybe it will! It may be for a short while or a long while. The only way to know for certain what works and what doesn’t is to follow your own body wisdom and experiment with different ways of being. Keep this open mind and act as your own scientist in the realm of health and nutrition. This is the key to your own health and happiness. It’s all really just a big experiment, and there’s not ONE right way to eat – everyone is different.
  • Be passionate, research and read different techniques, methods, and hear the ‘experts’ out – I mean they do what they do because they love it – and they have had a very personal transformation from the beliefs they teach – But in order to not get stuck within ‘perfectionism’ and trying to model after someone else – make your own rules – experiment – and tune into your inner body wisdom.

For example: I know that the most common food sensitivities come from wheat, dairy, corn, and soy. I started to notice how I felt after eating these certain foods. I realized I don’t really like to drink cow’s milk anymore, whole kernels of corn make my tummy hurt, and damn it to hell I love pizza but I generally don’t feel the best after consuming it.

I made my own simple shifts: I love almond milk and coconut milk, canned corn really isn’t worth it anyways but put a cob in front of me and watch me work, and my love for pizza is usually thin crust and I love adding in a side salad so I have a better macronutrient balance.

  • All of those unwanted symptoms. I want you to embrace them. Be grateful that they will lead you to a more fulfilled life. They are a challenge to step up. Evolve into a better version of yourself. One that is embodied. One that knows its boundaries. One that isn’t afraid to make changes in order to feel better. More supported. More grounded.
  • When you struggle with food and body. Maybe emotionally eat, hate your body, not feel comfortable or confident, eat low quality food, overeat, binge drink alcohol, simply feel helpless, out of control…. All these issues are leading you to something deeper. There’s a much bigger lesson behind all of these self-imposed stressors than just telling you to lose weight and be prettier.
  • Those toxic thoughts and beliefs about yourself will hurt you just as much as the toxins that are found in the food that you stress about. The thoughts you think as you eat affect the way you metabolize food. The way you talk to yourself, the way you visualize your body, is the exact reality that you create. You make assumptions about a certain way to eat, instead of tune in and listen to what you really want, how it makes you feel, and being able to enjoy the experience and MOVE ON!

Some questions you can ask yourself are:
If there was a deeper meaning behind all of my eating challenges, what would it be?
Is this unwanted symptom actually a gift in disguise?
In what ways can I be more kind to myself?
Can I be a better person?
Should I listen to what my body truly desires?

  • Challenge the thoughts that create stress or suffering – because almost always – the opposite is also true. So just because you think it, doesn’t mean it has to be your reality.

For example: You may feel like “Food is my enemy” – and rightfully so if it causes you this much life energy and guilt and shame. But isn’t the opposite of that also true? “Food is my ally” – I mean it was literally the first relationship you ever had in this world, and you can’t live without it.

Can you imagine if you were able to truly listen to your inner wisdom?

You knew through experimentation what food and routine and lifestyle made you the best and truest version of you.

And when unwanted symptoms appeared you didn’t push them away, or ignore them, or feel like a victim. You welcomed them in, became very curious as to why they were there and what was their underlying purpose. This made you compassionate towards yourself and others who are struggling just like you.

AND – when your mind starts to be mean, you question those thoughts, and realize that that’s not completely true, and that the opposite is also true.

I hope you found this helpful. Please comment with any questions or feedback, I would love to hear from you.
